Was every member of Azume Village killed? I am only curious because it would be a damn shame if they really decided to recruit ninja from outside the village
to serve Gohda.

They have never really said. Im sure some people survived but only riki and ayame remained as active members who were able to serve Ghoda. I was under the
impression the two ninjas in Tz are recruits. The events of T3 must have made Riki realise the clan has to fill its ranks in order to survive future attacks.

As far as I know... everyone except Ayame, Rikimaru, and Semimaru.

Also In the "Attack on the Ninja Village" level in T2 there was that one guy walking around that was a villager(I believe he was behind a couple of
houses)

Yeh I think some of the old ninja survived but lets face it they can't do much anymore. Prob just live a quiet life now. Anyway Tenchu 4 is 9 years after
tenchu 2 so more may have died by now.

maybe a couple of kids and olds ninjas, and if some kids survived, it would take at least 8 or 10 years to be active to the clan, in t2 there is an old ninja
guarding a little girl i think

The little girl was only in the training mission from what I remember. Wonder what happend to her.

I wish that we could go back in time and change K2 T3 into Aquire T3. I think the story was heading in a good direction. If only....

I disagree LOTS. Aquires had ended the story in tenchu 1 with Rikimaru's death. Hence why tenchu 2 was a prequel, they were short of ideas for tenchu 3 and
were taking way to long. Why do you think they got fired by the publishers? K2 made a good game they just gave it a shoddy story. Aquire are not these knights
in shining armour that you think they are. The reason why aquire have tenchu back again is k2 got bought out during the recession by Capcom. Capcom had no
interest in tenchu meaning FROM needed a new developer, low and behold Spike had forbidden aquire from making any more Shinibido games. So what do we have? A
publisher who publish ninja games without a developer and a developer who develop ninja games without a publisher. The result was a marriage of convinience.
Your also forgetting that Tenchu 3 was a successfull game. Be under no illusions, Aquire did not know tenchu 1 would be such a cult hit they never planned on a
tenchu 2 until Sony and Activison demanded one, hence tenchu 2's existance in the timeline. They were stalling with tenchu 3 and were fired in place of K2
who rushed the story to please the publisher.

I dont know man, Acquire has said that they had the story planned. The gameplay was fine and the game was good, I was talking about the story only.

And what is a game or anything without a story?... I mean, you can have any game and go rampant, senseless killing anything that moves. But when you have a
reason to do the things you did back on Tenchu and Tenchu2. That's when a game becomes good.
For me at least, the good game is not that with great gameplay and outstanding graphics, but that in which you really connect with the character, when you have a motivation to keep playing till the end... And At least three out of seven tenchu games did that pretty well. The other ones are silly, and I felt dissapointed of the long step backwards the franchise took with wrath of heaven. |

I guess anyone here will agree with that "Tenchu 2 is the best" part.

Tenchu 2 had a myriad of problems mixed in with its great story and innovative additions. Unfortunately in my mind, these problems edge it out of the top spot.
I'd rank them like this these days:
T1/T:FS/T3 T2 T:ShadowAssassins T:TotA

Really....That's interesting Iyam. FS and T3 are interchangeable for some fans. But T2 below both? Why?

Well, T1 is my favorite because it totally blew me away and I'd never played anything like it before. It become the standard by which I measured all other
gameplaying experiences.
T3/T4 come next because they were able to accomplish things that just couldn't be done on the original playstation. Draw distance was phenomenal, graphics were very good IMO, and the stealth kills were totally awesome. Of the two I really did prefer T4 over T3. Enhances graphics, better story line, and better levels IMO. T2 was a great game and it expanded greatly upon T1, however I had some real problems with the game that make it hard to rank any higher. The daylight levels/draw distance/skybox were poorly implemented. There was no music in the levels! The grappling hook was broken and it was nearly impossible to know whether you would grip the surface after throwing it. The combat was arguably poorer than T1 and it was just too easy get stuck facing the wrong direction. T:SA on the PSP is a fun new interpretation of Tenchu but it doesn't quite feel the same to me. T:TotA is fun too, however the draw distance, camera, block-like levels and terrible stories push this one down. Needless to say, I'm super excited about the T3 and T4 ports coming to the PSP!

After playing Metal Gear, every game I played was measured by that standard. I began to wonder why other games even had FMV if they weren't gonna do it
right.

Ohhh... SO you (Iyam) are talking about gamplay exclusivly? ... Well in that case, yes, Tenchu 2 won't be that high ranked... But I prefer games with good
story rather than good graphics, and sometimes over good gamplay.
When you have a good story, you get more INTO the character, and the gameplay seems better as you feel you are doing something epic. And at the end of the game you feel you've accomplished something. No matter if the graphics or gameplay are a bit odd. That's why I prefer Tenchu 2 over all others... But if we talk about gamplay... My favorite would be Fatal Shadows (Haven't played Tenchu Z or later games) I still think none has accomplished the boss fights of the original Tenchu though... You could fight Onikage through all the stage. Now you are a bit enclosed in the boss'es "arena" And for next games, I would ask for a way different combat system, one where you really have to master the combat system, like... If you get hit twice you'll die (And so ANY enemy) that way you have to use two attack buttons (Hard and fast) a block button, a dodge buton, and a parry buton for counter attacks. So you can block fast attacks, but a hard attack will brake your defense. You can dodge hard attacks, but it would be harder to dodge a fast one. And you can parry any attack, but your timming must be almost perfect depending on the kind of attack your enemy use. With that little scheme you can have really complex combats. And bosses wouldn't have to be the typical gigantic guy, but a normal one, like your character, only that the AI adapt to your techineque. |

Gameplay in T2 is marred only by the camera which you certainly have to learn to love. (You should never have to learn to love the camera). The level design
both from a functional level and an artistic level far exceed any other entry in the series. And the stealth kils are cooler too. AI is dumb but in 2000 we
were used to that.
